Karl Ullger

Karl Ullger is an expressive Gibraltarian, landscape and figure artist who’s exhibited in London’s prestigious Royal Academy, Mayfair Clarendon Gallery, Camden Town, London Lloyds Building, Belgium Spain and Gibraltar galleries.

 

He has had 6 solo exhibitions amongst many group shows but his biggest accolades were when on May 22nd 2015 he got accepted into the prestigious 247th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition with his painting titled, 'Bayview Clock Tower'. Being only the 2nd Gibraltarian to get accepted back then. The previous artist being accepted in 1913. In 2016 Karl also got selected from over 600 artists down to 48, to take part in the Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the year 2016 show in which he got to the Quarter Final. In March 2020, 4 International Gibraltar stamps were released depicting the 4 new state of the art Gibraltar schools paintings unveiled in his  November 2019 solo exhibition, ‘A Passport to our Future’. The stamps being based on Karl’s very own oil paintings.

 

March 2021 also brought some more success when he was accepted into the final Longlist stages of the Jackson Prize UK. 2021 and 2022 also brought the nominations for the Gibraltar Culture Awards as well as the release of his ‘Lockdown with Cane-Yo’ book of figure paintings produced during the pandemic year.

 

In May 2023 he has proudly presented Gibraltar in a group show in Antwerp, Belgium with two paintings from his ‘Lockdown with Cane-Yo’ book.
